wormy butt, wormy butt…

Stairs at Museum in NYC 5/06

In this post: missed Temple appointment, delicious dinner, scary book leading to survivalist mentality, worms in cat’s butt.

Yesterday: interesting. Got a little work done, got a little sleeping done. Alex and I went to the Temple in the evening, and… it was closed! Silly holiday schedule. But then we went out to eat at The Keg… mmm-boy! Yummy food. I ordered chicken fajitas and Alex ordered a sirloin. The server was confused. He tried to give Alex the chicken and me the steak. We so challenged the status quo. It’s social resistance like this that will change the world.

Speaking of changing the world, I’ve finished A Short History of Progress, and I have to say I’m nearly as worried as Alex. Mr. Wright brought up a few very interesting points that I had not considered before, especially the notion that if things go to pot, they will not necessarily do so gradually. It’s possible (and according to him likely) that we’ll reach some crisis break-point where the food supply is insufficient, or the petroleum supply runs out (the food supply is dependent on that, too), and then things will disintegrate very quickly.

Makes me want to move to the mountains above flea level and have a genetically-diverse garden. I told Alex about this thought, and she added, “with a wall. with some machine guns on the wall.”

So… um… Alex thinks our cat has worms. In his butt. Kind of gross. We’ll take him to the vet and see what she thinks. This might explain why he’s always starving to death. I hope we can help him be a bit happier. And have fewer worms in his butt.

I wrote a song about the situation (to the tune of “Smelly Cat”):

Wormy butt, wormy butt, we just keep feeding you.
Wormy butt, wormy butt, it’s not your fault.
We will take you to the vet, so your insides won’t get et.
Wormy butt, wormy butt, it’s not your fault.

Thank you. I’ll be here all week.
