so cute…
Click the cut to see a meme my sweetie found. She asked that I do it, so how could I refuse? I mean, she’s so cute and all.

1. What is the first CD you ever bought?
Hard to remember. Maybe Mecano’s Entre el Cielo y el Suelo

2. What was your favorite book in your elementary years?
a. I read a LOT of books then.
b. I have to pick just one?
c. I don’t even remember 90% of them…
d. Possibly The Yearling, although maybe I just remember it cause it was so freaking huge.

3. What is the creepiest book/story you ever read?
Hm… I don’t read much creepiness. But the end of 1984 still haunts me, as does The Bell Jar. I also read a few Joyce Carol Oates books, and those suckers’ll really destroy your sense of safety and goodness in the world…

4. Who is your favorite non-American author?
Pablo Neruda. Shakespeare. Dickens. Susan Holbrook. Chekhov. There’s so many! Aaaa!

5. Who is an author you would never read again?
Patricia Cornwell. ::shudddddder:: and I guess Ann Coulter. And probably Anne McCaffrey. I’m not too keen on Gregory Benford, either.

6. What song is stuck in your head?
Right this minute? The Simpsons theme. Usually? Embarrassingly, one I wrote. Recurring for a couple of years now.

7. What is your favorite non-American band/musician?
Hm. Tough one. How about… BNL

8. In two words, describe your feelings on Ayn Rand.
Inspiring. Oversimplified.
(actually those describe her apparent philosophy in her books; I don’t know much about who she actually was).

9. If you could only listen to one genre for the rest of your life….
Folk Broadly defined.

10. If you could only buy one media format for the rest of your life…
Monster-sized hard drive. OK, that’s a cop-out. DVD (which is another cop-out, because you can put all kinds of music on it). Wait, what do you mean? I don’t understand. Do I have to pick between audio and video? If so, I’d choose audio over video, I think.

11. What have you read expecting to hate but ended up liking it?
Some books by Anne Tyler. Oh, and Sun Tzu’s The Art of War.

12. What have you read and never finished?
Oh, geez… there’s a list. Mostly classics. James Joyce, Thomas Hardy, Jane Austen, the Bhagavad Gita (sp?), La Dama del Alba, 100 Years of Solitude, the Unabomber’s Manifesto, the novels following Dune

13. What is your favorite “classic” piece of literature?
Great Expectations (partially due to my impoverished education). There’s also Heart of Darkness.

14. What book would you like to seen made a film?
EN-DER’S-GAME!
EN-DER’S-GAME! EN-DER’S-GAME! EN-DER’S-GAME!

15. Which band/singer would you choose to do the soundtrack to your autobiography?
I think Suzanne Vega would do a marvelous job, but I certainly wouldn’t turn down They Might Be Giants or BNL or Bobby McFerrin or Jeff Buckley (if he were a little less dead).

16. What music do you own that no one would expect you to own?
Almost all the Manhattan Transfer albums. OK, so anyone who knew me in high school would expect that. Otherwise… maybe any of the shameless pop I liked in the early 80s, like Chicago, Madonna, Bon Jovi, Billy Idol, etc.

17. What is the best movie of 2006?
There were movies in 2006? I think I only saw the last X-Men movie, and I’m pretty sure that wasn’t it…

18. What is your favorite non-American film?
Well, I have had a major soft spot for Run Lola Run for the last few years.

19. Which author do you most resemble? (in style, etc.)
Honestly, I try to sound like Connie Willis, when I’m trying to sound like people. But who I actually sound like is anyone’s guess. I have no objectivity.

20. What is your favorite bookstore?
Strangely, I don’t think I have one.
